Introduction to our Team

The LMDB Directors

David Laws FCCA trained in accountancy in London before returning to Sussex. He recognises the importance of understanding clients’ needs and aspirations. David uses his knowledge to work with owners so they become increasingly efficient in the way they manage their businesses and the quality of information available for decision making. He believes that these items are key in order to help them achieve their goals both personal and professional.

Stuart Murray ACCA started his career as a trainee accountant with a local regional firm in 1995. He qualified in 2002 having gained a much varied experience and progressed to a senior manager’s role before helping found LMDB Accountants. As well as managing our corporate audits Stuart specialises in general and property VAT issues, and due diligence work. The technical expertise he has gained is extensive and is an extremely valuable resource for the firm and our clients.

Steven Diomedou BA (Hons) ACA completed his Accountancy degree and then qualified with a large regional firm in 2000. To expand his experience, Steven then worked for top 4 firm PWC before taking a senior manager’s role within a local practice prior to helping found LMDB Accountants. Specialising in the development and implementation of information systems, business valuations, management reporting, he works closely with businesses helping them produce the data they need to make better business decisions.

Richard Booth BA (Hons) FCA qualified in 1983 after completing a History degree at Queen Mary College of London University. Having spent time working for top 4 firm KPMG, he deals with many corporate and professional clients and specialises in tax planning, corporate restructuring including share for share exchanges, purchase of own shares, advice on grooming businesses for sale, due diligence and whitewash procedures for corporate acquisitions and disposals, accounting systems design and implementation.

Samuel Jaquet BA (Hons) ACCA qualified in 2007 after completing a Sociology & Criminology Degree at Keele University.  Sam leads our Management Accounting team. As a newly qualified member he manages a client portfolio ranging from smaller owner managed businesses to medium sized limited companies. Sam specialises in budgeting and cashflow planning for construction/developing companies, including preparing reports from accounting records specifically to assess profitability and other key performance indicators.

Natalie Doughty MAAT ACCA qualified in 2008 after completing her ACCA exams. Natalie leads our Audit team. As a newly qualified member she manages a client portfolio ranging from smaller owner managed businesses to medium sized limited companies. Her various roles include statutory audits under Companies Act and International Standards on Auditing, Law Society Reports, the accounts of charities under SORP, management accounts, together with personal and corporate tax returns. Natalie also oversees the Company Secretarial services offered by LMDB Accountants.

Pauline West ACCA Trainee, commenced her training with AAT in 1995 before progressing onto ACCA training. She has experience of dealing with a variety of local businesses. She is currently responsible for preparing year end and management accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. Pauline also deals with corporate and personal tax affairs.  She has extensive knowledge of bookkeeping software, in particular Quickbooks, VAT (including the margin schemes required in the motor and secondhand trades), CIS and payroll.

Stephanie Ray MAAT ATT Trainee, commenced training with AAT in 2004 before progressing onto ATT. Her various roles include bookkeeping, preparing VAT Returns, management and year end accounts.  Stephanie also deals with corporate and personal tax affairs. Her other strengths include Payroll, CIS matters & Sage training.  

Sam Baxendale MAAT qualified in 1995.  Sam is responsible for bookkeeping services to clients, preparing VAT returns, management and year end accounts.  Sam is one of LMDB Accountants in-house QuickBooks accounting software expert. She is also experienced with the Sage range of accounting software. Sam also handles areas of corporate and personal taxation.

Nicola Thomson MAAT achieved AAT accreditation in 2003.  Among her many talents, Nicola is responsible for maintaining our client’s bookkeeping records, VAT returns and payroll either at our office or client’s premises.  Nicola is one of our resident Sage experts. She often gets involved in helping clients set up the accounting/bookkeeping systems for smaller owner managed businesses and start up businesses.

Sandra Müller AAT Trainee joined LMDB after over ten years in the hospitality industry. Sandra has been in England for three years and currently training for the AAT qualification. At LMDB Sandra prepares VAT Returns, does various bookkeeping and is part of our Audit team. LMDB is happy to use all of Sandra’s hospitality experience when acting on behalf of various hotels, bars and restaurants in the South East.

James Francis AAT Trainee joined LMDB after over 15 years as a branch manager in the retail sector.  James is currently looking to add a qualification to his experience and is studying towards AAT accreditation.  James prepares VAT Returns, does various bookkeeping and is part of our Audit team. LMDB is happy to use all of James’ retail experience and customer service skills when acting on behalf of its diverse portfolio of retail outlets, especially in the implementation of systems.

Dianne Schooling is our Payroll Manager with over 20 years of Payroll experience. She is responsible for managing LMDB’s Payroll Service.   In particular Dianne is responsible for running our BACS Payroll Bureau which is a key element of our Payroll Service for many clients. Dianne appreciates that our clients need Payrolls that are processed accurately and on time. She provides first class advice and help relating to the more complex and ever changing areas of Payroll Administration such as holiday entitlements, sick pay and absence, maternity & paternity leave, P11D benefits in kind etc.

Julia Tichbon is our Office Manager responsible for the smooth day to day operation of our office. She is our first point of contact and always greets you with a friendly voice on the phone and a smile in person.  Julia has worked with members of the LMDB team for over 16 years and is one of the family. Her responsibilities also include dealing with Companies House for corporate annual returns and online filing.
